Tile Floor Patterns in Your Home

Have you ever contemplated a complete change in your flooring options? It seems many people are moving away from having carpeting and even wood floors, unless it’s real quality wood. Tile flooring is becoming one of the most sought-after flooring options in many homes. There is an unlimited choice in tiling and tile floor patterns that could make a beautiful statement for your home.

Additionally, with the real estate market in the current situation many homeowners are finding that changing their flooring to one of the numerous tile floor options is bringing a significant increase to the value of their home.

Tile floor patterns range from a simplistic two-color tile option to elaborate renditions of famous masterpieces found in a museum. As for tile types, not only can you use manufactured ceramic tiles, but also choose from a selection of natural tiles that includes stone, marble, brick, and even leather.

If you’re thinking about using a tile floor pattern, you’ll want to decide what type of ambience you’re looking for in your room or rooms. A formal dining room might do well with the use of a pattern that mimics an antique painting’s design. You will probably need a tile expert to design the color combinations for you and set up a grid for the work to be completed. This type of a tile floor pattern is quite elaborate and would require a fair knowledge of colors and setting the tiles properly.

Another idea that is becoming popular is in children’s rooms, where you can do everything from an underwater scene, cartoon characters, or a theme from a movie that your child adores mapped out in tiles.  Some of these tile patterns are very easy and quite striking with the use of primary colors to brighten your child’s room.

In other areas such as the kitchen, living room or family room, it largely depends on how much open space you have.  Many homes tend to over-clutter the floor space with furniture, and thus there is not enough open space to see a specially crafted tile floor pattern.  If you do have a fair amount of room, you can plan to design your floor with the central area or focal area to consist of a particular design or pattern. Finishing it with a more plain border around it would a great touch to the ensemble.

There are many options available to you when considering a tile floor pattern and perhaps you will find some other great ideas by looking at home remodeling magazines and other periodicals that show flooring ideas.  What ever you decide to do, remember that tile floors are now becoming one of the best values for your money.
